3 years of attachment. Known, tested, enjoyed, experienced and in a way, insured - college life!. Relatively lesser uncertainty, very few strangers by the end of 3 years and more or less, a laboratory to test human relationships, bonds and friends who will remain just like our initials, "unchanged" over the rest of life!
"Joe, what are you gonna wear today?"; Lee's alcohol laden voice stirred me a bit, even as I was negotiating with the faint intrusive sunlight that was attempting to wake me up and signal into a new morning in Singapore. I was still basking in the warmth of the taiwanese pillow my mother bought me last year. Snuggled, warm and was reminiscing about the bygone 3 years, farewell, friends, etc, when Lee, my room mate seemed to have woken up.
"Yo - man, are you wearing anything at all for today ;-)", he popped up in my room with a box of orange juice and supported himself on the door. "Lol, why do u say so ;-) I stretched like a lazy cat.. do you think I will get lucky if Im gonna wear nudity ;-).. " Lee always enjoys jokes played at my expense. His loud laughter, or..hmm.. Laughter with an American twist, was always signs of the happy American gene inside him.
Lee's mother was a texan and his dad was from Singapore. Well they are split now but Lee is a perfect "rojak" of the best and worst of both breeds. He had my Chinese way of thinking, working hard, and clearly drawn out goals and ambition and American genes for meant for "hunting a fawn" in the clubs, saying and meaning YES and NO, very clinical about relationships and quite expressive!.
Lee was our alpha dog in our batch. Batch of 2009, XUZ university Communications Bachelors. Well if you will ask me what's the yardstick to crown Lee the Alpha dog, is "CHO" simple. Girls..girls...girls...all kinds, all shapes, all geographies, language and what not!..Just like flies whirring over shit, they are all over him!
"There is no single rule Joe. All you need to know you are in the hunt! You mark your prey, come to speed about its characteristics, prepare, watch and spring in for the attack!.. if you have done your homework well enough, its usually yours!... Joe's "PREYER" was quite popular among friends. We listen to his "sINSPIRING" victories, escapades and voracious appetite. Some of my friends use to have a nickie for Lee..."Anaconda" ;-).. you know what I mean guys ;-)
Anyways, to switch back, I wriggled out of bed and took a jump straight into the mirror... Wan Chee Tan...here i come for the big day..Farewell!
